Announcement to Partners from Punlaan School

Dear Partners, Donors, and Benefactors,

It is with deep sorrow that Punlaan School announce of the passing of our dear School Director, Maria Theresa “Kai” Nabatar, on August 23, 2025. She was diagnosed with cancer last July 2025.

Kai, or more lovingly known as Ma’am Kai, has served the Foundation for Professional Training, Inc. (FPTI) in various roles for most of her life. A true educator at heart, she was in the teaching and management staff of Habihan School for Residence and Institution Services and Management in 1995, and as the School Director for Maligaya Institute for Culinary Arts and Residential Services (MICARS) by 2003. In 2013, she joined Punlaan School and had been the Vice Director for Student Affairs, and most recently, the School Director of Punlaan School since 2023.

50 Years of Transforming Lives: Punlaan’s Anniversary Kick Off Celebration

Last May 14, 2025, Punlaan School held an Anniversary Thanksgiving Celebration to kick off the activities for its 50th year. Starting off the celebration was the Dedication of the Altar and Thanksgiving Mass presided by Most Rev. Honesto Ongtioco, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Cubao, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Erwin See, Regional Vicar Secretary of Opus Dei in the Philippines and Indonesia, and Rev. Fr. Cecilio Magsino, Punlaan School Chaplain.

Punlaan School becomes an accredited Assessment Center for Pharmacy Services NC III

Part of its milestones in its 50th year, Punlaan School has officially been accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as an Assessment Center for Pharmacy Services NC III.

Graduation of the 32nd Batch of Hospitality and Culinary Arts Scholars

Punlaan School has reached yet another milestone as it celebrated the 30th Commencement Exercises last April 2, 2025. Recognizing 98 students in the Dual Training Program in Hospitality and Culinary Arts this year, Punlaan School continues to grow and strives to offer this program to many more underprivileged young women from various provinces in the country. This year, scholars hailed from Benguet, Camarines Sur, Bataan, Mindoro, Samar, Butuan, and Zamboanga among many others.

AUGUST 2024 — Punlaan School is pleased to announce that it has officially joined the Association of Southeast Asian Social Enterprises for Training in Hospitality & Catering (or ASSET H&C) Network. Punlaan School is ASSET H&C’s first technical-vocational institution-member from the Philippines.
