Truly, there is no place like home. Punlaan School’s 49th Anniversary Alumnae & Student Get-together last June 3, 2024, was attended by almost 100 alumnae, guests, and students in the school’s very own Multi-purpose Hall.
During the Thanksgiving Mass which opened the celebration, Punlaan School Chaplain Fr. Magsino expressed his joy that the event started with a Mass as it symbolizes the School’s and its students’ gratitude for the ever-bountiful grace of God throughout the 49 years that it has been welcoming students.
Following the Mass, Punlaan School Director Ms. Kai Nabatar welcomed back the alumnae, proudly showing them the major developments of the school, especially its now 7-storey building. She thanked the collective contribution of partners, benefactors, and alumnae alike in bringing Punlaan to where it is now. She also announced the launch of the Alumnae Office, and hinted at the formation of an Alumnae Association in preparation for the School’s 50th anniversary in 2025.
At the Get-together portion, many alumnae shared their own memories in Punlaan – from running loudly on the wooden floors in their 2-inch heels, to helping each other clean the different areas of the school especially when expecting guests. The host, Lica Velasco-Elcano, from Punlaan Batch 20, also shared her realizations, emphasizing that “Tatak Punlaan” is the hardwork of all its graduates. Many resonated with this, and added on the importance of adaptability, resilience, and perseverance not only during their on-the-job training but more so when they start working. Each and every one’s journey was a testament to the values instilled by Punlaan.
Punlaan School Vice Director for Student Affairs Ms. Fil De Guzman closed the celebration with an invitation to all alumnae to encourage their own batchmates to organize their own reunions and maintain that connection with each other.
